This journal is theme-based. While the inaugural issue covered a few diverse yet critical areas of the present-day environment, the subsequent seven issues explored themes of ‘The Sacred Space’, 'The Public Realm', ‘Management of Change’, ‘Architecture Education’, ‘The Technology of Building’, 'Transformation, Reuse & Rehabilitation’ and 'Asian Modernity'.

The upcoming ninth issue (Volume 5, No. 1), for which we are now inviting contributions, is dedicated to studies on ‘Design for Healthcare and Sports’, exploring the intersection of design and the two most important aspects of caring for the human body. The choice of the theme is also inspired by the growing significance of physical culture in today’s world, the phenomenal advances that have occurred in healthcare systems and facilities, the fantastic icons created worldwide for sports of various denominations and, in general, design in an era of radical societal and technological transformations.

Writings can include, among others, examples of healthcare and sports facilities in historical or traditional societies; design responses to technical requirements, structural possibilities and, regulations for designing such facilities; factors that revolutionized the 21st century healthcare and/or sports architecture and urban infrastructure; adaptation, upgradation and retrofit of old health and/or sports buildings to accommodate recent advances in the field; analytical studies of medical and/or sports related facilities in various social, economic and physical environments; theoretical studies related to evolution of healthcare and/or sports facility; design guidelines for efficient functioning, improving environmental quality and user satisfaction of the healthcare and/or sports-related systems. The range includes the informal community set up, planned neighbourhood, city-level, regional or national facilities and, stretches up to globally-acknowledged monumental icons.

This is an invitation for submission of your research papers and other original, previously unpublished technical writings suited to the above-mentioned theme that has been selected for the upcoming issue of ‘Creative Space (Creat. Sp.)’. Please visit to send your submissions, or, e-mail them directly to

We look forward to receiving your research paper and its valuable contribution for enhancing awareness of the significance of this critical aspect of our built environment.
